As a kid, growing up in Texas offered endless hours to fish, trap, coon hunt and call coyotes & predators. It’s easy to see how such a passion can begin and then stay with you for a lifetime. Not only was I influenced by true friends, but also by an uncle and cousin who I respected and looked up to; (and still do to this day). Finding creative ways to call predators started at a young age and now well into my forties, I still have cool dreams of taking down coyotes and replaying hunting moments in my head.
Today, as I teach my son and share with him those special hunting moments, and as we are making new memories, I hope that he looks up to me as I did to those who taught me how to hunt.
What a rush it is to call in a coyote with a call that started out as a plane ole piece of turning stock. I have spent countless hours and ruined expensive pieces of wood learning my trade. When you blow into a call that was hand made and have a coyote answer back, the hair on the back of your neck stands up. As you begin to work him in, you bring him in ten yards and your heart is about to jump out and its all you can do to keep from hyper ventilating…WOW!
Every time I fire up my lathe I learn something new about making calls. I hope that some day a dad will hang a lanyard with one of my calls around his son’s neck and tell him about all the dogs he has called in with it. That thought alone is fuel to the fire.
The custom calls I make, are for predator, deer and crow hunting and made out of many different types of materials. Please don't hesitate to call me with request if you have one. All of my custom calls are one of a kind, made one at a time. Due to the high demand for RAW DAWG calls we have started carrying high quality molded calls that have proved to be deadly effective by professional hunters from coast to coast.
All of my calls are made in the USA and all come with a lanyard. I try very hard to keep the prices low and affordable "for the working man by a working man". We don't use fancy bells and whistles in retail packaging . Why? Because we have yet to see a fancy package call in a coyote.
All of our calls are hand tuned in our shop for out of the box perfection.
I would encourage you to practice and then practice some more; read and listen to every thing you can about coyotes and spend as much time in the woods as possible to become the best caller you can. You will make mistakes and scare off coyotes but learn from your errors and you will be successful.
